The abilities they granted him could’ve either identified him as a budding member of an alien race (much like Gwen becoming an Anodite) or made him different enough that the GKND ceased to identify him as human. It’s possible that while he was out with the GKND that for whatever reason–stress, homesickness, danger, whatever–those powers finally manifested in Nigel. So we have a strong possibility of Nigel having inherited those powers. (If you really want to get twisted, you can even throw in the possibility that for whatever reason Nigel’s mother bore Benedict’s kid instead of her husband’s, making Nigel’s family tree even more messed up.) However, it’s still lurking in Monty’s genes which would have been passed on to Nigel. While Carl and Frank Tennyson may not have taken after their mother, they were still carriers of that possibility and passed it on to their kids.īenedict and Monty Uno both had a direct link to Grandfather’s powers, but only Benedict seems to have inherited them. To use the source of where this possibility came from, Verdona (Ben and Gwen’s grandmother) gave birth to two half-human boys, neither of which ever developed Anodite abilities even though one of them had a daughter whose powers developed in her teens. The obvious question is, of course, why doesn’t Monty show any hint of having these powers? Stop and think for a minute: Just because it’s in your bloodline doesn’t necessarily mean it will show up. That also means that the potential lies within both Monty and Nigel to also develop these abilities. That means these powers are most likely passed via the bloodline. It’s also plausible that they all share Father’s pyrokinesis. Given how the Annoyingly Cute Triplets’ Mother also seems to be wearing a shadow suit as well, it’s plausible that she shares those abilities as well. We know for certain that Father and Grandfather share shadow, telekinesis, shape shifting, and levitation powers. We have the Annoyingly Cute Triplets’ Mother: And they’re pretty darn consistent when you stop and think about it. There is a long history of powers in Nigel’s family. ![]() So that made me start wondering and asking a very interesting question: What if Nigel wasn’t human to begin with? Both were born on Earth, but one of them is leaning more towards Anodite than human. Gwen Tennyson is a prime example in that she and Ben’s grandmother was an Anodite, an energy being, and she inherited the powers while Ben didn’t. Some of them were the result of their alien bloodlines shining through. In the Ben 10 franchise, people with powers aren’t limited to mutants. Then I had an epiphany in the middle of a migraine inspired by another Cartoon Network series that’s near and dear to my heart: Ben 10. After all, wasn’t he the Kids Next Door operative selected to represent Earth? Did that mean that Nigel wasn’t a fully-fledged Galactic Kids Next Door operative? This line bugged me for a while since it sounded like a snub to Nigel.
